Church-turned-library on Vieux-Quebec
SEPTEMBER 29, 2017
This building’s transition speaks volumes of Quebec’s historical relationship with the Catholic Church and yet there is something so oddly calming about the transition of one place of soltitude into another – it’s former serenity somehow being preserved as a library.
This church-library hybrid is a perfect example of Quebec’s uncanny ability to retain and preserve their cultural heritage (often with heavy religious tones) and yet somehow combine it with their modern secularist stance.
Despite its transformation, the tranquility of this place remains unchanged.
Quebec City truly is an interestingly wonderful place.
